How it's built

The try-on engine was built in-house on proven, open web technology — real-time face tracking and WebGL rendering that run in the browser your patient already has. No plugin, no download, no "please update your app." That's why it's stable across the devices that actually walk into an optical.

Real-time face tracking

The engine tracks facial position and orientation live through the camera, so frames sit naturally and follow head movement — not a sticker pasted on a photo.

Stable on real-world devices

Built on standard browser technology, it runs on the phones, tablets, and desktops your patients actually own — in the exam lane, at the dispensing table, or on their couch.

Private by design

Camera frames are processed on the patient's own device. Their video is never uploaded or stored, which keeps the experience fast and keeps privacy simple.

Most frames in the world only exist as 2D product photos. Etometry's proprietary pipeline combines generative AI with photogrammetry techniques to reconstruct those photos into high-quality, photorealistic 3D assets — accurate geometry, true materials, real finishes — ready for try-on.

Physically based materials bring back what makes the frame the frame: tortoise depth, brushed metal, matte acetate.
